Mine Reclamation Plan Filed for Willcox Rock & Sand Outer Space Material Source
A Mine Reclamation and Closure Plan has been submitted to the Arizona State Mine Inspector’s Office for the Outer Space Material Source operated by Willcox Rock & Sand, Inc. in Cochise County, Arizona.
The Outer Space Material Source is an existing aggregate mining operation located southeast of Willcox near State Route 186. The site has provided construction materials for the region for decades and has operated in the area since approximately 1955.
The submitted plan outlines how the site will be reclaimed following the completion of mining activities. Reclamation measures include removal of equipment and debris, grading and stabilization of disturbed areas, and restoration of the site to a safe and stable condition. The proposed post mining land use is open space.
The project encompasses approximately 128 acres and includes existing mining, processing, stockpile, and access road areas. Mining operations are anticipated to continue into the future, with reclamation occurring upon completion of mining activities in accordance with Arizona law and the requirements of the Arizona State Mine Inspector.
