JDI Enterprises – JDI Pit Reclamation Plan

The Request

The JDI Pit, owned and operated by JDI Enterprises, is seeking approval of a reclamation plan for the aggregate mine located just north of I-40, just east of DW Ranch Road. The mine has been in operation since 2000 and is intending to continue operations at this site.

This reclamation plan is required as part of Arizona State Law, and dictates how a mine site should be mitigated once it no longer feasible for mining. At this time, there is no end date identified for the mine.

  • The mine includes approximately 48.4 acres.
  • Been in operation for over 20 years.
  • Access to the mine is off of Minerva Lane approximately 1,000 feet east of the Loves truck Stop.
  • The mine produces high quality aggregate, critical for the local businesses including construction, road work and landscaping.
  • Operations include excavation, screening, crishing, stockpiling, ,loading and hauling.
  • The site is a considerable distance from residential uses, the closest home being 1,800 feet to the north.

Next Steps

The Arizona State Mine Inspector will recieve the application for review of the reclamation plan and begin their process in accordance with Arizona State Law once the JDI Enterprises has mailed out notification cards.

Arizona State Mine Inspector Process

  • ASMI will review the plan for technical accuracy and completenes.
  • Plan will be sent to qualified engineers who are experts in the field of mine reclamation and they will perform a technical review on the plan.
  • Once all comments are addressed as part of the technical review, a public meeting will be scheduled by ASMI, where technical comments will be taken from the public in consideration of the plan.
  • If all requirements are met, the plan will be approved and the reclamation plan will become a requirement for the mine once it is no longer feasible for mining.
  • The Arizona State Mine Inspector will provide public notice of the meeting in accordance with Arizona State Law.
